PURPOSE: A heating operation method of an air conditioner is provided to respond to a heating load speedily and reduce the power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A heating operation method of an air conditioner includes the steps of driving or stopping a plurality of compressors, and determining a heating load after that(S2,S3). If the heating load is reduced to a middle value, some of the compressors are stopped and the others are stopped later after driving all the compressors(S4). A heating load is determined again, so that some of the compressors are driven or stopped if the heating load is reduced to a small value(S5,S6).
