PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purification of a silicone resin which has polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated double bonds in the molecule, by selectively and substantially removing low molecular weight impurities contained in a crude silicone resin, without impairing electrical and optical performances that inhere in the silicone resin. SOLUTION: The method for purification of the silicone resin which has the polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated double bonds in the molecule, comprises a step of dissolving the crude silicone resin containing the silicone resin comprising the polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated double bonds in the molecule, into a hydrocarbon solvent without using organic solvents compatible with the hydrocarbon solvent, a step of adding an organic solvent having octanol/water distribution coefficient (LogPow) of -0.5 to -1.2 and agitating, and a step of separating the hydrocarbon solvent layer in two layers formed after still standing, and then removing the solvent.
