PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter unit which can restrain abrasion powder from being produced. SOLUTION: The focal plane shutter unit has a substrate 0 where an opening 3 is formed, a light-blocking blade 1 arranged above the opening 3, a caulking pin 2 fitted to the blade 1, an arm 5 which is engaged with the pin 2 to open and close the blade 1, and a cover plate 10 which is arranged opposite the substrate 0 across the blade 1 and arm 5. An interposing plate 9 is fitted to the rear surface 10R of the cover plate 10 along the movement track 9X of the pin 2 to restrain the peak part 2T of the pin 2 from sliding abutting directly against the rear surface 10T of the cover plate 10, or the interposing plate is fitted to the rear surface of the cover plate along the movement track of the arm and a clearance can be formed between the peak part of the caulking pin and the rear surface of the cover plate by making the interposing plate abut against the arm.
