PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noises of a silent chain and also to improve sound vibration performance. SOLUTION: A large number of link plates 2 having a pair of teeth 22 and pin holes 21 are laminated in the thickness direction and in the longitudinal direction. And at the same time, guide links 4, 4' are arranged on the outer-most side of the link plate 2. The silent chain 1 is composed by connecting them with connection pins 3. The yield load of the guide link 4 is made smaller than that of the guide link 4'. The guide links 4, 4' are irregularly mixed in the longitudinal direction of the chain. By this, a contact state with inner side is changed non-periodically at the starting time of the engagement with a sprocket tooth. And at the same time, when seating is executed with outer side as the engagement is shifted from the inner side to the outer side, a seating state with the sprocket tooth of the outer side is changed non-periodically. As a result, sound pressure from the starting time of the engagement to the seating time can be reduced and the sound vibration performance can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
