<p>PURPOSE: A communication system for improving the data transmission efficiency of a TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) in an asymmetrical network environment and a method therefor are provided to increase the data transmission efficiency of a TCP in an asymmetrical network environment, such as an ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line). CONSTITUTION: A communication system and method for improving the data transmission efficiency of a TCP in an asymmetrical network environment comprises a transmitting block(41), a DSLAM(43), and receiving blocks(45-49). The DSLAM(43) comprises a queue state monitoring part(43a) and a congestion control part(43b). Each of the receiving blocks(45-49) has an ACK packet holding/compression part(45a-49a). The transmitting block(41) uses most channels to transmit data packets to the receiving blocks(45-49), and allocates less channels in receiving information from the receiving blocks(45-49). At least one among the receiving blocks(45-49), connected to the transmitting block(41), receives a data packet from the transmitting part(41) and transmits a response signal to the transmitting block(41). The DSLAM(43) receives response signals from the receiving blocks(45-49), multiplexes them, and transmits the multiplexed response signals to the transmitting block(41). Also the DSLAM(43) transmits data packets, transmitted from the transmitting block(41), to corresponding receiving blocks(45-49).</p> |
