<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prompt a user to effectively use an ETC card to reduce such a situation that the user runs his or her vehicle without being aware of card expiration and is stopped at a tollhouse. <P>SOLUTION: An ETC on-vehicle device 10 reads a validity term mark which is provided on the surface of an ETC card 22 and represents the term of validity of the card. A central control part 12 discriminates, on the basis of the term of validity represented by the validity term mark, whether a report condition for determining the time when a report about expiration of the term of validity should be made is satisfied. When the report condition is satisfied, an interface control part 14 controls an interface part 16 to output the report about the term of validity in accordance with an instruction of the central control part 12. For example, the report condition is satisfied when the term of validity has already expired, and the ETC on-vehicle device 10 notifies the user whether or not the card can be utilized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
