PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter positioning and setting device for a slitter, which accurately positions and sets all cutters. SOLUTION: Positioning block 22, 32 are provided with registration air cylinders 25, 35 with proximity position indicating pointers 27, 37 having tapered conical rods 26, 36 at the tip parts. The respective cutter holders 12, 17 are provided with convergent-divergent conical registration recessed parts 28, 38 where the tips of the rods of the registration air cylinders are closely fitted. By registration to the cutting edges 29, 39 of cutters 12a, 17a held in the cutter holders of the proximity position indicating pointers attached to the registration air cylinders, it is indicated that the tip parts of the rods of the registration air cylinders are located in the proximity positions to be fitted to the registration recessed parts of the cutter holders.
