PURPOSE: A recording/reproducing device, a contents reproducing device, a magnetic disk device, and a controlling method thereof are provided to reduce deterioration of a data rate by mechanical standby time including rotative standby time of a recording medium when reading data recorded on a disk-type recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A head position estimator(320) estimates a current relative position for a recording medium of a head. An LBA(Logical Block Address) calculator(310) calculates positions of a data block to be read next and other data block existing before and after the next data block. A moving place determiner(330) determines a data block having the shortest time for the head moving in the data block to be read next, based on the current head position estimated in the head position estimator(320) and the calculated positions of each data block.
