PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain new evaluation criteria that replaces evaluation criteria using an inclusion rate of a pointer gamut and to use a method for optimizing a primary color design effective in a human visual sense with respect to a particular color gamut by simultaneously optimizing chromaticity and luminance in the case of designing primary colors of a self-light emitting display, as for a display primary color designing device and a display primary color designing method for determining primary colors of a display that performs image display and video display by multi-primary color reproduction. SOLUTION: A lightest color gamut being the gamut of the lightest color and a filling factor of a color solid in the lightest color gamut are defined as evaluation criteria, qualifications of a white point generated from respective primary colors are regulated, an evaluation function that particularly emphasizes the gamut filling factor of a particular hue as is used.
