PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint capable of miniaturizing a yoke member and increasing its strength while improving assembly work efficiency of a joint cross. SOLUTION: This universal joint is provided with a pair of yoke members 1 provided between mutually opposing end parts of a pair of shaft members, respectively, and the joint cross 2 connecting each yoke member. The yoke member is composed of a basic body 5 connected with an end part of the shaft member and a pair of yoke parts 6 divided and formed for the basic body and supporting journal parts 2a, 2b of the joint cross rotatably through a needle bearing 3. A pair of fitting parts 9 holding and fitting a mounting end part 18 of each yoke part in the basic body are formed in a rectangular shape along the direction in which it crosses the journal part of the joint cross orthogonally. The mounting end part is fixed by a bolt 20 while holding and fitting it in a bottom wall 10, first support walls 11, 11, and second support walls 13, 14 of the fitting part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
