PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal coin with a hard coating for resolving the problem that a metal coin with a hard coating which has been used for game playing whose stainless steel or a copper alloy as a base material has a low hardness of≤300 by Vickers hardness, ( the hardness of titanium nitride widely used as the hard coating is≥2,000 ) so that the hard coating is peeled off by impact with an article which is different in hardness in use environment and the appearance of the metal coin is remarkably damaged, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the metal coin with a hard coating, the hard coating provided with an intermediate coating and excellent in adhesiveness is formed on the surface by a dry plating method. As for the metal coin with the hard coating, the coating is not easily peeled off, and its outside appearance is not damaged in the use environment of the metal coin, and it has wear resistance and decorativeness.
