<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary drive device that allows reduction in size while delivering a given driving torque and an apparatus equipped with this. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary drive device 1 includes a base 4, a vibrator 2 having a piezoelectric element 22 provided at the base 4, and a rotator 100 rotatably provided at the base 4. The vibrator 2 has an abutting part 23, and the rotator 100 has a contact part against which the abutting part 23 abuts at a prescribed distance from the center of rotation. A voltage is applied to the piezoelectric element 22 to vibrate the vibrator 2. Thereby repeatedly pressing the contact part by the abutting part 23 rotates the rotator 100. The position of the vibrator 2 in a plane which intersects the rotation axis of the rotator 100 is designed to fall on the same as the contact part or on the center of rotation side from the contact part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
