摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent erasure of game data of, at least, one generation before. <P>SOLUTION: This game machine 10 includes a CPU 40 and, when a game cartridge 32 is installed in the game machine 10, the CPU 40 is electrically connected to a ROM 56 and a flash memory 58 having two backup regions in the game cartridge 32. Game data formed according to the progressing state of the game are stored (updated) in a work memory 44, for example, latest game data are written in the backup region according to the command of a user. When writing the latest game data, the CPU 40 selects the backup region storing game data whose written time is older, as the backup region of the writing object.
