PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthogonal frequency division multiplex transmission method for making phases of pilot carriers continuous and also optionally setting the frequency of the pilot carrier independently of a guard interval length and to provide a transmitter and a receiver employing the same. SOLUTION: In the orthogonal frequency division multiplex transmission method wherein a plurality of carriers orthogonal to each other comprise pilot carriers and data carriers and data are transmitted in a form of transmission symbols wherein the guard interval attached to each valid symbol, a phase rotation amount inverse to a phase rotation amount of the pilot carrier caused by the attachment of the guard interval is given to the pilot carrier.
