PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor which has an ultrasmall particle diameter, has a luminance higher than that of conventional coarse particles, is excellent in crystallizability, and can be used for a high-definition display, a high-luminance lighting element, a lighting fixture, a high-speed immunoassay system, etc. SOLUTION: The phosphor has a primary particle median diameter D50of 0.05μm-1μm, a secondary particle median diameter D50of 0.1μm-2μm, a substantially spherical shape, and an internal quantum efficiency of 0.7-1, and at least 50 vol% of all the secondary particles have an aspect ratio of 0.8 or higher.
