PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a diamond coated tool for easily giving high sharpness to a cutting blade even when applying a diamond coating film to the cutting blade, and also to provide a diamond coating tool including a cutting blade with high sharpness by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A diamond coating is applied to the surface of a base material at least in a cutting blade part of a tool body, and subsequently high fragile material is cut by the cutting blade part to polish the surface of the diamond coating film, thereby forming the knife edge. Thus, in the diamond coating tool, the film thickness of the diamond coating film on the knife edge side in the cutting blade part is made smaller than that in the other parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
