PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a decrease in tire air pressure, by which a pressure-reduced tire among four wheel tires can be identified. SOLUTION: There is provided a device to execute the method comprising the following steps of: detecting the wheel speed of each tire; memorizing the wheel speed of each tire; calculating a judgement value; comparing the judgement value with a prescribed threshold; making a judgement that the air pressure of one of two respective pairs of diagonally arranged tires is decreasing when the judgement value exceeds the threshold; calculating a wheel speed ratio between left and right front tires, and between left and right rear tires, respectively; judging whether or not the judgement value keeps exceeding the threshold for a prescribed time; and identifying the position of a tire with reduced air pressure on the basis of the wheel speed ratio between the left and right front tires, or between left and right rear tires when a judgement is made that the judgement value has kept exceeded the threshold for the prescribed time.
