PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing precut timber which can efficiently perform various highly precise processings and can collectively perform unified processes in a limited space, and a method for producing the precut timber by using the apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing the precut timber has a conveyor stand for conveying timber, a clamping device for supporting the conveyed timber, a timber processing means, and a controller which issues commands to the clamping device and the timber processing means based on the processing data of each timber. A plurality of freely protrudable timber positioning stoppers are arranged on the conveyer stand. By protruding a prescribed stopper based on the processing data, the timber is stopped. The clamping device grasps a prescribed position of the timber based on the processing data and supports the timber in midair. A processing position is adjusted by the displacement of the clamping device and/or the timber processing means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
