A user interface having a high degree of freedom is realized in a large-capacity disc-shaped recording medium containing a content. Button image data, audio data on corresponding sound effect, and control instructions of audio data and video data are multiplexed on the stream and recorded on a disc. Scenario reproduced from the disc is stored in a buffer (104) and video data and audio data are respectively accumulated in a buffer (105). The video data is read out from the buffer (105) according to the scenario and spread on a graphics plane (133). Together with this, corresponding audio data is read out of the buffer (105) and reproduced by a sound player (106D). The sound effect is reproduced in accordance with modification of the button image based on the button state change, thereby realizing more effective user interface.
