<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate burden of an operator at lamp mounting and replacement, by allowing a little deviation of a mounting position of an EEEL in axial direction against a pair of sockets. <P>SOLUTION: In the lighting device, outer electrodes 214 of either end of a dielectric barrier discharging discharge lamp (EEEL) 21 are formed in a length in which their tip parts can protrude outside from a face contrary to the opposing face of each socket with a pair of sockets 22 arranged in opposition in a state press-fitted into each lamp-insertion hole 220. This makes it possible that the outer electrodes are in contact with all the inner face of the lamp-inserting holes even if the EEEL 21 is mounted between the pair of the sockets with a little deviation of position in the lamp axis direction, and a lighting performance of the lamp is stabilized by keeping contact resistance nearly constant irrespective of a mounting state, and further, a whole surface of liquid crystal can be evenly illuminated when it is used as a liquid crystal backlight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
