PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handle mounting structure which can not only effectively prevent backlash of a handle with respect to a door but also impart desired play to the handle. SOLUTION: A handle shaft 8 for coupling the handles 2 and 3 for opening/closing the door 1 is constituted in such a manner as to be supported on a pair of mounting seats 4 and 5 which are arranged in the state of abutting on both the sides of the door 1. For example, in the mounting seat 4 of the mounting seats 4 and 5, when a driver 11 is inserted from a notched groove 4a1 of a rectangular body 4a so that an adjusting screw 9 is turned in a prescribed direction, a force is applied to a shaft hole 4b in a direction wherein a slit width of a slit 4c is narrowed, so that a hole diameter can be made smaller. The turning of the adjusting screw 9 is stopped after a fitting state (engaging state) between the handle shaft 8 and the shaft hole 4b, that is, the degree of interference fit is checked by the play of the handle 2.
