PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas lighter having a simple locking mechanism and easily assembled. SOLUTION: The gas lighter comprises a lock cap 3 having an upper wall 31 and side walls 32a and 32b for covering the upper surface and side surfaces of an ignition button 2 and locking bodies 33a and 33b projecting in the lateral direction y. The gas lighter also comprises a stopper 8a that is inside a case 1, and lies under the locking bodies to prevent falling of the locking bodies when the lock cap lies at a locking position, or lies outside a downward moving trajectory of the locking bodies when the lock cap lies at an unlocking position displaced laterally y from the locking position. Sliding guide grooves 21a and 21b extending laterally y and one of locking strip bodies 33a and 33b engaging with them and extending laterally y are disposed on the side surface of the ignition button, and the other is disposed on the side surface of the lock cap. The sliding guide grooves are disposed in the ignition button, the locking strip bodies are disposed in the lock cap, and the locking bodies are integrally connected to the locking strip bodies to provide tips of the locking strip bodies.
