PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling a blow molding machine which can obtain a parison and a blow molded product, each having desired length, thickness and weight even when the flowability of a resin material has a change, etc. SOLUTION: The blow molding machine includes a die unit 10 having a die 12 and a core 14 relatively movable to the die 12 to mold the cylindrical parison 40 by extruding a molten resin material from a nozzle 16, and a mold 35 for molding the extruded parison 40 to the blow molded product 42 of a predetermined shape. In such a blow molding machine, the amount of operating of the core 14 is controlled based on the extruding length of the parison 40, the thickness and/or the weight of the product 42.
