The present invention provides cell lines that are resistant to anti-tubulin drugs and, in particular, are resistant to hemiasterlins and/or the hemiasterlin derivative HTI 286. Methods are also provided which use these cell lines to screen for and identify drugs (particularly anti-tubulin drugs) that effectively inhibit the growth and/or replication of cells that are resistant to hemiasterlins and other anti-tubulin drugs such as HTI-286. The invention additionally provides methods that use these cell lines to characterize antitubulin drugs. |
