PURPOSE: A soft handoff generation informing method is provided to reduce load required for checking information on a soft handoff leg at every frame. CONSTITUTION: When a mobile station is positioned in a cell region of a base station 1 and performing a call communication, the number of soft handoff legs is maintained as '1'. When the mobile station is moved to approach a cell region of a base station 2 while maintaining the call state, a soft handoff is determined and the number of the soft handoff legs becomes '2'. The number of soft handoff legs is included in a handoff generation message and transmitted from a control station to the base stations 1 and 2. Then, the base station 2 is allocated channel resource from the control station and transmits forward and backward traffic to the base station.
