<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous plug of a rotary molten metal agitating apparatus, which is used in the state that it is mounted on the rotary type molten metal agitating apparatus in order to remove impurities, such as gases like hydrogen, etc., oxides existing in the molten metal by discharging inert gases, such as nitrogen gas, argon gas into a molten metal, such as aluminum, in a bubbly state, and which is excellent in permeability and strength, and further to provide a rotary type apparatus for agitating the molten metal, which is provided with the same porous plug. <P>SOLUTION: The porus plug used in the state that it is mounted on the rotary type molten metal agitating apparatus is made of a sintere compact of silicon nitride ceramics, and has the porosity of 20% or more and the four-point bending strength at ordinary temperature (measured based on JIS R1601) of 400 MPa or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
