<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular passenger protection system against lateral collision capable of preventing degradation of the collision determination sensitivity according to the position in the longitudinal direction of the lateral collision. <P>SOLUTION: An acceleration sensor 17 and an acceleration sensor 18 are provided forward and rearward respectively from a rear end of a driver seat 3 in a vehicle. A signal related to the vehicle turn is detected based on signals output from these acceleration sensors 17 and 18, and a lateral collision is determined based on the signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
