<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photopolymerization initiator which can eliminate or at least reduce the accumulation of scum and residue in a developing solution and a resist stripper and the deposition of the scum and residue on a device and a printed wiring board. <P>SOLUTION: A compound includes the photoinitiator bonded to a hydrophilic carrier component. The carrier component may include sufficient hydrophilicity in such a manner that the compound of the entire part thereof is soluble in water or emulsifiable in water. The compound is used in a photosensitive formulation, such as a photoresist.
