<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new application of catechin obtained by extraction of Camellia sinensis. <P>SOLUTION: An osteogenic promoter comprising catechin or its mixture as active ingredient is provided. Osteogenetically promoting food products/drink products containing this ingredient are also provided. Thus, the promoter or the above food products/drink products can inhibit osteoblast death to promote, osteogenesis by osteocytes through advancing( enhancing ) the proliferation/differentiation or maturation of osteoblast. By the way, the catechin or its mixture denotes either one of (-)EC, (-)EGC, (-)ECg, (-)EGCg, (-)C, (-)GC, (-)Cg and (-)GCg or a combination of two or more thereof, being preferably (-)ECg as the active ingredient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
