PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature measuring apparatus and a gas sensor under a super-high temperature by using a value of thermal electromotive force which is generated in a contact of heterogeneous carbon material and a value of electric resistance under a super-high temperature. SOLUTION: The super-high temperature measuring apparatus is characterized by arranging a test piece composed of carbon material in a super-high temperature atmosphere, installing an ohmmeter which measures electric resistance accurately, and measuring a temperature from a measured resistance value. The gas sensor for super-high temperature is characterized by arranging a test piece composed of carbon material in a super-high temperature atmosphere, fixing terminals composed of carbon material different from the test piece to both ends of the test piece, installing a voltage/ohmmeter between the terminals which measures a voltage and a resistance by a thermal electromotive force generated in the test piece, and measuring pressure and concentration of atmospheric gas from measured resistance value and voltage.
