System and method for determining identities of transaction parties are disclosed. One embodiment includes: capturing an image of a transaction party at the time of the transaction (2); associating the transaction image with transaction information generated by the transaction device (2); and using the transaction image to verify whether the transaction party has authority to conduct the transaction (1). Preferably, the associating includes cross-referencing the transaction image with the transaction image at the time of the transaction. Transaction information can include information related to one or more of time and date of the transaction. The transaction information can also include information related to the transaction device.
