<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf stability improver for an ink jet recording medium which improves the ink absorption, print density and clarity of the medium by adding the former to the latter; eliminates ink discoloration or fading even after the long-term keeping of printed matter on account of the superb light resistance and resistance to qualitative deterioration by an oxidative gas of the improver; and helps retain successful printability and ameliorate the drying of a coating liquid, and an ink jet recording medium using the improver and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The shelf stability improver for an ink jet recording medium contains or adsorbs an inhibitor for qualitative deterioration by an oxidative gas in a copolymer fine particle and/or the surface of the copolymer fine particle obtained by emulsion-polymerizing at least one kind of an ultraviolet absorbing monomer (a) selected between a benzophenone-type ultraviolet absorbing monomer represented by formula (1) and a benzotriazole-type ultraviolet absorbing monomer represented by formula (2) and a vinyl monomer (b) which is copolymerizable with (a). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
