PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein it is not easy to obtain a solid polymer fuel cell having a high output and long term stability, because it has been conventionally difficult to obtain an electrode to satisfy sufficient conductivity and draining performance.
SOLUTION: In this solid polymer fuel cell wherein catalyst layers 2b, 3b containing at least electrode catalyst particles and proton conductive polymers adjoin on both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane of a solid polymer, a relation X+Y between the thickness X of the electrolyte membrane 1 and the thickness Y of the catalyst layers 2b, 3b at least on one side is made to satisfy a condition of 25μm-130μm, and the electrolyte membrane 1 and the thickness X, Y of the catalyst layers 2b, 3b are optimized. Thereby, a flooding phenomenon is prevented by enhancing draining performance, and the solid polymer fuel cell capable of maintaining the high output for a long period of time is obtained.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
