<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe tachykinin antagonist free from the development of side effects, or the like, of a tachykinin receptor antagonist prepared by organic synthesis. <P>SOLUTION: This tachykinin antagonist contains an extract of the rhizomes of one or more kinds of plants of the family Liliaceae, selected from Smilax china, Bakkatsu (a variety of Smilax china) and Smilax glabra Roxb as an active component. Since the plant extract has tachykinin antagonistic action, it is useful as an agent such as antipsychotic agent, antidepressant, antianxiety agent or antiemetic agent for the treatment and/or prevention of various tachykinin-relating diseases. The extract is expected to have excellent properties from the viewpoints of safety and side effects because the extract is originating from the plant of the family Liliaceae used as food products and herb drugs from ancient time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
