PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display apparatus which permits flexible control for the protection of an observer's eyes and is user-friendly.

SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display apparatus is provided with: a measurement means 4 for measuring the display time of a stereoscopic image; and a parallax adjustment means 5 for giving an instruction to a stereoscopic image generating means 1 to adjust the parallax of the stereoscopic image, and when the stereoscopic image display time measured by the measurement means 4 exceeds a prescribed time, the parallax adjustment means 5 gives an instruction to the stereoscopic image generating means 1 to reduce the parallax of the stereoscopic image to be generated and displays the stereoscopic image with a small parallax on a display means 3.
