PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commutator motor capable of maintaining a complete stopping state of a rotor with a simple and low-cost structure. SOLUTION: This commutator motor includes a field winding 1 wound around a stator 3 and connected to a rotor winding 4 wound around a rotor 6 via a brush 8 and a commutator 7, and an AC power supply connected to the field winding 1 and the rotor winding 4. The brush 8 is rotatably provided in the peripheral direction of the commutator 7. A prescribed contact pressure is applied to the brush 8 so that such a frictional force that the brush 8 positioned at a base point while the rotor 6 is stopping rotates together with the commutator 7 may be achieved between the brush 8 and the commutator 7 to maintain the rotor 6 in a stopping state.
