PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail system that enables confirmation of opening of an electronic mail, and to provide a distribution apparatus and computer program thereof. SOLUTION: A transmitter 3 transmits the electronic mail via a communication network N by the operation of a sender. The distribution apparatus 1 stores data such as images for download, receives the transmitted electronic mail once, adds specified information such as URL for specifying specific data to the electronic mail, and transmits the electronic mail added with the specified information to a receiver 2. The receiver 2 accesses the distribution apparatus 1 for automatically downloading the data specified by the added specified information when outputting the received electronic mail. The distribution apparatus 1 detects the access from the receiver 2, and transmits the electronic mail indicating that the electronic mail is opened at the receiver 2 to the sender.
