<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact air cleaner using a centrifugal fan. <P>SOLUTION: The centrifugal fan 26 is provided at the center of a casing A of the air cleaner, blow-out ports 21 are provided at both side parts of a front cover 20 of the casing, the air sent from an impeller 26a of the centrifugal fan is received by scroll walls 11a, 11b of a discharge passage B provided on both sides, introduced to respective blow-out ports and blown out toward the front, and suction passages C1, C2 supply air sucked from the rear face and side faces of the casing to the impeller. The suction passages are formed between a dust collecting filter 27 provided immediately before the suction side of the centrifugal fan and the central inner face of the front cover 20, and deodorizing filters 28 are provided at terminal parts of discharge passages serving as an inner face of the blow-out ports. The deodorizing filters are of a photocatalyst type. An ultraviolet ray emitting apparatus 28a for activating the photocatalyst is preferably provided in a discharge passage B.
