<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of suitably carrying out a tilt correction process even when an image having different vertical and horizontal resolutions is input. <P>SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus extracts resolution data from image data input at the step S101 (S103). When the vertical and the horizontal resolutions of the image are different (NO at S105), resolution conversion processing for making the vertical and the horizontal resolutions equal is executed (S107). Then, the tilt of the image is detected from the image having equal vertical and horizontal resolutions (S109), and the image data having equal vertical and horizontal resolutions are rotated in accordance with the tilt (S111).
