1,167,014. Pneumatic tyres. MICHELIN & CIE (Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin). 19 Oct., 1966 [19 Oct., 1965], No. 46843/66. Heading B7C. Tyre wear is reduced by fitting, coaxially on a vehicle, a pair of tyres having superimposed cord plies in their crowns and of identical size and construction except that the cords in corresponding plies are orientated oppositely in the two tyres, the cords 6 of the radially outermost ply of the right-hand tyre 1, Fig. 3, being orientated to the left, and the cords 6 of the corresponding ply of the left-hand tyre 1, Fig. 2, being orientated to the right. The need to manufacture different tyres is avoided by using tyre 1, Fig. 6, which has a full-width ply 8 and half plies 7, 9 respectively below and above ply 8. Two such tyres are mounted coaxially on a vehicle with ply 9 inboard on the right-hand tyre and outboard on the left-hand tyre. |
