The present invention provides for an apparatus (10) for verifying accurate writing of data to a recording medium (12) comprising, means (34) for generating and storing syndromes for the said data, means (22) for delivering the said data to the said medium, means (24) for retrieving the written data from the said recording medium (12), means (34) for generating further syndromes for the retrieved data, and means for comparing the said further syndromes with the said stored syndromes to determine the said accuracy of the written data. |
