PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for washing a resin by using lesser amounts of solvents. SOLUTION: This method for washing the resin comprises the processes of (a) bringing the resin into contact with a swelling solvent miscible with water uniformly, preferably selected from tetrahydrofuran, acetone and dimethylformamide, and then (b) bringing the resin into contact with a polar modifying solvent selected from the group consisting of acidic water, basic water, neutral water, an acidic 1-6C alcohol, a basic 1-6C alcohol, a neutral 1-6C alcohol and their mixture similarly as performed in the process (a).
