PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electromagnetic wave-absorbing coating material capable of enough decreasing electromagnetic waves generated from an electronic/electric device which emits the electromagnetic waves, by applying the coating material to an inner wall, an outer wall or both the walls of a housing for the device, and having good adhesion to the inner wall and the outer wall, to provide an electromagnetic wave-absorbing housing given by applying the coating material to the housing, and to prepare an electromagnetic wave-absorbing film or sheet. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic wave-absorbing coating material contains (A) at least one kind selected from the group consisting of nano-scale carbon tubes encapsulating a ferromagnetic substance and amorphous nano-scale carbon tubes, (B) a resin, and (C) an organic solvent. The electromagnetic wave-absorbing housing is given by applying the coating material to the housing for the electronic/electric device which emits the electromagnetic waves.
