<p>An optical multiplexer/demultiplexer comprising a diffraction grating, having a short forcal length, and capable of multiplexing demultiplexing light of a narrow wavelength interval. In the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer, a plurality of output waveguide groups are connected to one end face of a slab waveguide with an input waveguide group connected thereto, a diffraction grating with grating grooves having a plurality of reflecting surfaces blazed depending on the respective arrangement directions of the plurality of output waveguide groups is disposed on the other end face of the slab waveguide, and the arrangement of the output waveguide groups are determined so that the diffracted lights of different wavelengths from each other reflected by the reflecting surfaces of the diffraction grating reach the respective output waveguides of the plurality of output waveguide groups.</p> |
