PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp lighting device with a high power factor utilizing a half-bridge type inverter circuit with good starting property. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp lighting device comprises a first capacitor 40 connected to a first switching element 11 in parallel through a fluorescent lamp circuit 30, a second capacitor 50 connected to a second switching element 12 in parallel through the fluorescent lamp circuit 30, a supplemental inductor 60 connected between the second switching element 12 and the second capacitor 50, a power source rectifying circuit 70 rectifying the voltage of an alternating current power source 71, a third capacitor 80 charged by the power source rectifying circuit 70 through the supplemental inductor 60, and a supplemental diode 90 impressing the voltage of the third capacitor to a position crossing the first switching element 11 and the second switching element 12 so as to become a voltage with normal polarity to those elements.
