PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrier for reliably positioning a sheet without any cost increase, and an image forming apparatus having the sheet carrier. SOLUTION: A reference member 21 extending in the sheet carrying direction which is abutted on a side end of a sheet passing through a re-carrying passage 18 to position the sheet in the width direction is provided on one end in the width direction orthogonal to the sheet carrying direction of the re-carrying passage 18 through which the sheet passes. The sheet direction can be easily changed by disposing holding portions to hold the sheet of sheet carrying means 13b and 13c which are located on the upstream side of the reference member 21 to hold and carry the sheet toward the reference member 21 so that the distance L1 in the width direction between the holding portions and the center C in the width direction of the sheet passing through the re-carrying passage 18 is smaller than the distance L2 in the width direction between the reference member 21 and the center C in the width direction of the sheet.
