PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shifting device for a vehicle including a guide plate capable of being embodied easily in a thin walled, lightweight construction by giving a strength to the periphery of a restricting groove in the guide plate. SOLUTION: The shifting device of the vehicle is furnished with at least one restricting groove 19 formed in the guide plate 4 continuously to a guide hole 12 for locking a shift lever 2 in the specified shift position 14 by receiving a guide pin 3 on the shift lever 2 and a blocking mechanism 21 to block the groove 19 in the condition that the shift lever 2 is out of the groove 19. The inward directed deformation of the groove 19 in the guide plate 4 is suppressed when a load is applied from the shift lever 2 to the side with the groove 19 of the guide plate 4 in the condition that the guide pin 3 has slipped off from the groove 19.
