METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATMENT OF WASTE SLUDGE IN SEDIMENTATION BASIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the treatment cost and transportation cost of the waste sludge in a sedimentation basin. SOLUTION: A waste sludge concentrating tank 3 is arranged for forming forcibly-sendable waste sludge slurry 2 from the waste sludge 1 in the sedimentation basin. A spray drier 4 is arranged which is constituted so that a ventilation duct 12 of a gas turbine power generator 11 being a commonly used power generator of a filtration plant is connected to a hot air inlet 8 of a columnar vessel 10 and a cyclone 13 is connected to the downstream side of the outlet 9 of the vessel 10. The discharge side end of a slurry forcibly sending pipe 6 provided with a forcibly sending pump 5 for sending the slurry 2 forcibly from the tank 3 is connected to a spray nozzle 7 of the drier 4. Granular dried waste sludge 16 is formed from the slurry 2 by spraying the slurry 2 from the nozzle 7 while high-temperature exhaust gas 15 from the generator 11 is passed through the drier 4 so that the liquid drops of the sprayed slurry 2 are dried instantaneously by the heat of the gas 15. The dried sludge 16 discharged from the outlet 9 together with a current of the gas 15 is separated, collected and recovered from the air-flow by the cyclone 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
