PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a presser device of sewing machine which facilitates sewing of different kinds of and thickness of cloths by a sewing machine. SOLUTION: This presser device of sewing machine is equipped with a push-up lever rotatably supported on the backside of a sewing machine frame and energized in a direction by a spring, a linking rod connected to the push-up lever, a swinging shaft which is rotatably supported by a bush and a part of which is engaged with the linking rod, a presser base which is connected to the end part of the swinging shaft via a pin and has a presser foot fixed on the tip end, and a pressing bar equipped with a forked rod with a guide face for the pressing base and an elastic member engaged with the forked rod. The presser device has a mechanism in which the tip end of the presser base is energized downward around the swinging shaft by the presser bar to press cloth against the loading face of the sewing machine head. A recessed part is set in a pocket in the forked rod and a pin is fit in the recessed part with play and a groove for engagement is formed in the presser base so that the lower end of the pin fit with play in the dent part of the forked rod can be engaged with an engaging groove in the presser base.
