PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep sanitary in an oven without giving a bad effect on a foodstuff during cooking by a negative particle generator capable of stably providing air with a negative particle amount generated from the negative particle generator without generating ozone and without reducing the amount with a lapse of time. SOLUTION: Photoelectrons are generated from a photoelectron generating material 1 by ultraviolet light from an optical source 4, are trapped by micro particles such as molecules of water, oxygen or the like in the air flowing from an air inlet 6 or dust, and are discharged as negative particles from an air outlet 9. In the photoelectron generating material 1 having generated the photoelectrons, positive holes occur in the photoelectron discharge place, but electrons are instantly refilled into the positive holes by electric grounding. In other words, the discharged photoelectrons or negative particles do not return to the positive holes, so that the negative particles can be generated without reduction to remove mold and bacteria.
